Venture Lapland, an investor in northern growth companies, has acquired the majority ownership of Arctra and aims to grow its revenue tenfold. The growth plan includes 6,000 floor square metres of new construction as well as new luxury tourism services spanning accommodation, transportation, security and concierge operations.
Based in Rovaniemi, Arctra is one of Lapland’s leading luxury tourism companies, and it will continue operating under its own name after the ownership arrangement. In August, its service range was expanded to cover the needs of a luxury destination’s international clientele.
– Arctra’s four business areas are the first in Finland to offer a complete service range for luxury tourism. The travel agency Arctra DMC brings international clients to Lapland and manages service production from chefs to guides, while Otava Lodge is the group’s own luxury accommodation. Our concierge house Divánta looks after guests’ privacy and personal protection, and our luxury car rental LuxCar manages the vehicle fleet and chauffeurs, says Elias Joentakanen, Chair of the Board of Venture Lapland.
The Venture Lapland investment company was founded by a group of entrepreneurs with Lapland roots, and new investors have joined during 2026.
– Luxury travel experiences are born from quality and genuine encounters. That is why Lapland must invest in quality more than quantity. This is the North’s moment of opportunity, and Venture Lapland invests in the region’s most promising growth companies. Our investment company offers a unique opportunity to join ventures that combine sustainable development with strong return prospects, say founding partners Elias Joentakanen, Henry Hynynen and Petri Juotasniemi.
– Venture Lapland decided to invest in Arctra because it is one of the few luxury tourism companies that create high added value for their clients. Beyond uncompromising quality and privacy, these guests want genuine, human service experiences from their winter holiday. Arctra combines this with a complete service chain and strong growth prospects, says Elias Joentakanen.
Arctra is building more capacity for luxury tourism
Arctra’s pro forma revenue for the latest financial year was €2.8 million. The group has launched an investment programme spanning a few years; once completed, revenue is estimated to reach €25–30 million. Growth will come from new accommodation capacity and an expanding service range.
– The investment programme will bring 6,000 floor square metres of new luxury-level accommodation capacity to the Rovaniemi area, after which our goal is to employ around 200 luxury tourism professionals, says Chief Technical Officer Petri Juotasniemi.
– Lapland’s pristine nature and peace provide an excellent setting for luxury tourism. Yet Finland still lacks some of the services that these guests seeking once-in-a-lifetime experiences need. Our new concierge, security and luxury vehicle services are an important precondition for growth, emphasises Chief Business Officer Henry Hynynen.
Sales for the 2026–2027 season clearly ahead of last year
Growth in northern tourism looks set to continue. Arctra’s sales for the 2026–2027 season are already at a very good level and clearly ahead of the same time last year.
– Christmas is almost sold out. Many of our guests book their next trip as the previous one is ending. Customer satisfaction is driven by our service concept, the northern nature and good connections. The expanded Rovaniemi Airport also serves guests arriving on private jets well, says Elias Joentakanen.
