Luxury is often thought of as the setting. According to Joentakanen, the core is elsewhere.
“Care is the foundation of luxury. It is gentle, genuine caring – not performing. A guest will forgive small mistakes if they feel they are in good hands. But if the care fails, it is never forgotten.”
In practice, the staff work one step ahead: needs are noticed before guests have time to ask, and the staff are empowered to make even significant decisions independently.
“Small gestures – and slightly bigger ones – never appear as an extra charge. They are part of the experience. The pricing is built so the magic can happen.”
The aim is to surprise every guest at least once during their stay.
